POSE KIT DECO
If you have arrived here, it is because you are the happy owner of a new decoration kit.
Installing a kit requires time, precision and a little patience. But nothing complicated, you just have to apply yourself to obtain a superb result.
"Set yourself up in a bright and clean space, equip yourself with a cleaning product, a degreasing product, a microfiber cloth, a hairdryer or a heat gun, your vehicle, and your decoration kit."
You are ready for installation! Here are the steps to follow to maximize the lifespan of your kit:
STEP 1: CLEANING & DEGREASING PLASTICS
This is one of the most important parts of the process. It's time to take care of your machine. Grab your cleaning product, your cloth and clean all the plastics (not just the parts where the kit is placed, I'm watching you 😏).
The plastics should come out like new!
PS: The ideal is obviously to apply your kit to new plastics. If this is not your case, make sure your plastics are not scratched and clean them well.
Second part of this step: DEGREASING
We recommend using a good quality brake cleaner . Don’t hesitate to use a good amount. The more, the better! Dip your cloth in the product, apply it to the entire surface of the plastics in insisting on edges and indented areas.
Your plastics must become dull, this is a sign that they are well degreased and that your decorative kit will last a long time.
STEP 2: APPLYING THE DECOR KIT
Let's start with an easy part to get the hang of. Grab a front plate and the corresponding sticker (these plates are often flat and are a good exercise before tackling the more difficult parts).
Before peeling off the sticker from the backing paper, check that it matches the plate! Test alignments and positioning.
Two techniques are available to you:
- You can use painter's tape to hold the sticker (still with the backing paper) on the plate. This will allow you to peel off the sticker little by little while keeping it well positioned.
- You can also remove a small portion of the backing paper, apply it to the plate, then remove more to stick the rest of the sticker.
Do not remove the sticker from the backing paper in one go! You risk altering the glue with your fingers or dust particles.
Make sure to always start by gluing the middle of the sticker and work outwards to eliminate air. If air is trapped under your sticker, gently peel it off to remove it. If this is not possible, use a needle and poke small holes to let the air escape.
When the decal becomes too stiff or needs to be bent to fit an edge, you can start using heat (with a hair dryer or heat gun). The heat will activate the glue, softening it and removing the air channels there.
Exerts strong pressure when applying the sticker. The harder you press, the more it will stick to the plastic. Insists well on the edges of the plastics.
STEP 3: POST-HEATING
To increase the adhesion of the stickers, simply warm up the edges and areas of tension. Remember to press firmly on the area in question after heating it.
STEP 4: ADMIRE THE RESULT
Take a few minutes to admire your work. Grab your phone, capture your best photos and share them on your social networks by identifying us: decomotos_fr. You can also send them to us by private message, our teams will be happy to share them again.
STEP 5: WAIT AT LEAST 24 HOURS
It is important to wait 24 hours to 48 hours before using your motorcycle to allow the glue to bond properly to the plastic. Make sure your motorcycle is stored in a dry place and at room temperature (if it’s too cold it may shrink).
The stickers may shrink a little in the days following installation. This is completely normal.
If this has caused the decorative kit to lift in certain places, press again on the affected areas and do not hesitate to warm them up slightly.
