Fitting guide, rims

Fit your rim stickers.

Just like fitting a graphics kit, fitting rim stickers takes time, precision and patience. Follow the guide, the result is worth it.

Fit your rim stickers.

Before you start

Prepare your rims

A clean, dry rim is the base of a fitting that lasts.

Wash your rims

Clean your rims with a pressure washer and a rim cleaner from any shop.

Dry them well

Make sure you dry the rims well, then wipe off any last residue with a cloth.

Get set up

Set yourself up in a clean, bright space, with the equipment from the list just below.

Your equipment

  • A pressure washer
  • A rim cleaner from any shop
  • A brake cleaner
  • A clean microfibre cloth
  • A hairdryer or a heat gun
  • Your rim stickers

Step by step

Fitting in 6 stages

Take your time, this is precision work.

Degrease your rims

Use a good quality brake cleaner. Do not hold back: the more, the better!

Soak your cloth in the product and wipe it over the whole surface of the rim.

Check and position the sticker

Before peeling the sticker off its backing paper, check that it matches your rim. Test the alignment and the positioning.

Place your sticker on the side of the rim and take the time to align it properly.

Stick from the middle outwards

Do not peel the sticker off its backing paper all at once. You risk damaging the glue with your fingers or with dust particles.

Start by sticking the middle of the sticker, then work back outwards to push the air out.

Post-heating

To increase the grip of the stickers, warm up the edges and the areas under tension.

Do not forget to press firmly on the area after heating it.

Admire the result

Take a few minutes to admire your work. Grab your phone, take your best shots and share them on social media by tagging us: @decomotos_fr.

You can also send them to us in a private message, our team will be happy to share them.

Do not forget

Wait 24 to 48 h

  • Wait 24 to 48 hours before using your bike so the glue bonds properly to the rims.
  • Keep your bike in a dry place at room temperature (if it is too cold, the stickers may shrink).
  • Warm up your stickers one last time for the best hold.

Heat and pressure

The two moves that make all the difference

  • When the sticker gets too stiff or has to be bent to fit an edge, use heat (hairdryer or heat gun). It activates the glue, softens it and removes the air channels trapped in it.
  • Apply firm pressure when fitting the sticker. The harder you press, the better it sticks to the surface.
